The last surgery was extensive, the doctor removed the entire left lobe of her liver and after two weeks recovery in California she came home with no evidence of cancer. Fast forward a couple of months, Misty had her first blood work and scans post op. Unfortunately these revealed a reoccurrence. A very large cystic mass on one of her ovaries and some additional metastasis to her abdomen near her liver. 

 

We have spent the last week trying to get in to see a surgeon so we could discuss next steps. We met with a surgeon in Tulsa today and at this point he does not believe she is a good candidate for surgery. His recommendation was to resume chemo immediately to see if she responds and to hopefully be able to do surgery after three or four rounds. This is not the news we were hoping to hear. With cancer, the goal is to stay surgical. While this can be achieved with chemo, it is hard taking the "wait and see" approach. We are going to be consulting with a few more surgeons next week, so fingers crossed we get the green light for surgery sooner rather than later. 

 

It sucks, wish we had gotten more of a breather between treatments, but this is how it goes sometimes. So that's where we're at. The fight continues. 💙💪
