Sweet Giovanni was born October 26, 2018 at 9:30pm, at just 24 weeks and six days old. He weighed just 660 grams and 12 inches long. Here is a little back story so everyone can be brought up to speed. I found out my Mirena IUD failed on June 4th 2018. It was the seven year anniversary of my fathers death and I was terrified when I found out I was pregnant. I told my boyfriend and we had been together since 2012 and living together in our condo for a year. He gave me the ultimatum to either abort my baby or he was leaving me. I chose to give my baby life. Little did I know he was serious about ending us. On August 13, 2018 there was a knock on the door and I was served with eviction papers. I instantly sat on the floor and just cried. How could the man I love, evict me while I was carrying our son? How could he evict me because I wouldn’t kill our baby? I prayed and god told me to keep my baby. On August 14th the next day, I started looking for some help and I came across this wonderful place called Maggie’s Place. I was so nervous and I called the number for Maggie’s Place and as I cried on the phone, the girl on the other end of the phone was so kind and asked me about my situation. She was so kind! She scheduled for me to meet for an intake interview that day. Two wonderful women met me close to my house and they were so caring and we talked about my situation. The next day, they called me back and we set up another meeting. At the end of the meeting, they said they would call me if I was a fit for the program. A few hours later, I got the best call. They invited me to move in! Maggie’s Place had gave me hope for myself and my unborn baby. I moved into Maggie’s Place August 21st, 2018. I contacted my ex’s attorney and when I moved my stuff out of my ex Tim’s house, he gave me a receipt because I gave him the condo keys back in return, Tim’s lawyer dismissed my eviction! I was so happy to have a safe place to live and that my eviction was dismissed. Please go to www.maggiesplace.org (http://www.maggiesplace.org/) to learn about their homes of hospitality for pregnant moms in Arizona and Ohio! I’ll forever be grateful of Maggie’s Place. So at Maggie’s Place, they helped me with a safe bedroom to sleep in and they drove me to my interview at Amazon. They helped me get my job! I started my job September 28, 2018. I took the bus to work. But then on October 8th, 2018 at 10:30am I was at work and I started having contractions. I was rushed to Labor and Delivery from work. I was 22 weeks pregnant and in labor! The wonderful doctors stopped my labor and I spent 4 days in the hospital being monitored and was sent home on October 11th, 2018. I was given steroids and put on magnesium and was stabilized. I had to go on medical leave at work. I had a follow up appointment on October 15th, 2018 and I started bleeding and I was admitted to the hospital from my appointment. They kept me overnight and I was sent home the next day. I was fine until the night of October 24th, 2018 at 11:28pm when my water broke in my bed. The girls at Maggie’s Place helped me stay calm while the ambulance was on the one. One of the Maggie’s Place mission Corp girls went in the ambulance with me and stayed the night. I was told I’d be in the hospital until I was 34 weeks since my water was broken. Two days later I started cramping very bad and was crying in pain and i started bleeding a lot. My placenta was abrupting. I was 24 weeks 6 days pregnant but they had to get the baby out right then or we both would die. I had an emergency csection at 9:30pm. I delivered Giovanni just weighting 660 grams and 31.5cm. That’s just 1 lb 7 oz and 12 inches long. He cried at delivery. He was breathing on his own for the first 2 hours of life then was intubated  and placed on a ventilator. Due to Giovanni’s premature birth he is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and are hoping he will be able to come home around February because that’s his due date. We have a long road ahead. Giovanni is doing well and your prayers and well wishes are still needed for his strength and health as he continues to grow. We thank you very much for all of the love and support. I will update about Giovanni. He is at Rainbows Babies and Children’s NICU. I’ll keep updating his caringbridge website.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Cheryl Williamson

Quick update... Giovanni started needing more oxygen so he got a chest X-ray done and it showed both of his lungs are collapsed. They took him off of Cpap and put him on a ventilator called Niv Nava and increased his caffeine. Praying this works but if it doesn’t, he will have to get intubated again. I’ll post some pictures later after we kangaroo. ❤️
