Mindy’s Story

Site created on January 21, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Mindy's journey started back in March of 2021, she noticed a lump on her left breast, she waited a bit and in June she went in to see a Dr. due to the size and the pain.  She was told it was nothing to worry about and it was a fibroid as she has had them in the past. (She even asked if she needed a mammogram and was told no!  advocate for yourselves and don't take no for an answer)  Fast forward to Dec 2022 the lump had grown significantly and was very painful so she got a second opinion.  Immediately the Dr. ordered a mammogram and she was sent down to Duluth to have an ultrasound and biopsies done.  She left that appointment being told "I am 99% sure you have breast cancer, but the biopsy will confirm."  She was set up with and oncologist and a surgeon during the same appointment.

After 4 excruciatingly long days and a whirlwind of emotions she got the dreaded news that we were all hoping was wrong, but deep down knew was coming, 3 words that will forever change her life "You have cancer".

Mindy has never been one to back down from and fight and she isn't about to start now, she is in for the fight of her life and she will come out a winner!

On top of all this Mindy lost her job in December  so if you want to help her out you can contribute to her go fund me page at https://gofund.me/afd7e08e

Newest Update

Journal entry by Kari Hraban

Mindy started feeling ill last night and after off and on attempts she was able to fall asleep and get some rest.  She was up on and off throughout the first part of the night and at 2:00 in the morning she decided she needed to go to the hospital.  When they arrived at the hospital there were a bunch of cop cars and it wasn’t looking good for getting in up one of the cops recognized them and allowed them inside.  Still not sure what was going on with all that.

her stomach was in severe pain and after a CT scan it showed an infection in her abdomen.  she was taken by ambulance to Duluth.  We are still awaiting any news as to what the next steps are.

Again please say all the prayers and she is in room 1421 if anyone is wondering at St. Mary’s.
