Journal entry by Nancy Moses

Everything is still going very well.  I am surprised that I am so slow in recovering my energy and strength.  Even though I had seen this in several forums before the surgery I just never realized that it would be to this degree.  Some of this is probably about my medications, but certainly age and major surgery have to be primary causes.  That being the case, I have no where to go but up and to get stronger.
My transplant team did call last Thursday to let me know that based upon my blood and biopsy results from last Tuesday's visit that I have an infection in the transplanted lung.  Based upon what I have seen, these are expected.  On meds for that for 10 days.
Going to local rehab at the hospital three times a week.  Over did it the first day and learned my lesson.  Taking it a little easier now and working up to longer workouts.  Trying to get around the house as much as possible.  Taking showers every other day.  Team told me that I need to stay away from meetings and mass gatherings for at least 3 months.  Best just to stay home as much as possible.  I was looking on getting out some, but if staying at home will keep me from going back into the hospital, then staying in it will be.
Many, many well wishes on the internet and quite a few cards.  Always a moral booster; makes me feel good!  My Grand Daughter in Maryland (Michele's daughter Amber) sent me a box filled with snacks and chocolate.  Such a caring person she is.  I believe the important thing to realize at this point is that I have done very good thus far and that there is a long road ahead for me.  I need to stay positive, work hard on rehab, and appreciate the gift that I have been given.
I am a very lucky and blessed to have Nancy looking after me.  She helps with the daily medications (32 at today's count), always cleaning and disinfecting, cooking meals, and kind of waiting on me constantly.  I could not ask for a better caretaker.
