Mike’s Story

Site created on April 24, 2019

Update  March 2022 - Mike has been sick for the past 6 months and was treated for pneumonia but never seemed to improve.  Several weeks ago, his oxygen saturation rates dropped to low 70s and he was admitted to the hospital.  After much testing and searching, his specialists found he had a rare bacteria in his lungs that affects immune compromised individuals.  They began him on strong antibiotics, an antimalarial drug and steroids.  He is home and responding to the treatment and is slowly weaning off oxygen.  Thank you for your prayers!  We know God hears them!

Original Mike's Story - My husband, Mike, has always loved action...whether on a motorcycle, scuba diving or in his Corvette.  Recently he hit a speed bump.  He had not been feeling well, had no appetite and lost over 20# in the past 6-8 months.  Thanks to our great physicians, they kept looking until they found the cause.  Mike was originally diagnosed with Lymphoma, only to discover he actually has a very rare autoimmune disease (iGg4) that can mimic lymphoma.  It cannot be cured but he will receive steroids along with chemotherapy with the goal being remission.    We are using this CaringBridge site to keep family and friends updated.  Thanks for visiting and leaving words of encouragement.  You are a blessing to us!

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!!!  Without hesitation or questioning, our insurance covered the new immunosuppressant drug prescribed for Mike.  Miraculous in itself but the fact that 3 months of the drug (all 360 pills) will cost us $12.00!!!  Only God!!!
