Mike’s Story

Site created on March 5, 2019

Hello friends and family.  Welcome to our CaringBridge website which we have started to update people on Mike.  Mike has been  living with Parkinson's for many years now and has been evaluated recently and diagnosed with end stage Parkinson's.  He had several falls in the past month and has become more confused and agitated each day.   His quality of life has diminished extraordinarily in the last week.  Currently he is in hospice care at Walker Care Suites on York Ave in Edina.  He has been surrounded by his family, Debbie, Jennifer, Christopher and Sandy for the past 4 days.  His pain and delirium are being managed with medication most of the time. He responds to our voices when awake but does not open his eyes.  We are told by the hospice team that we may have several days left with him or possibly even a little longer.  There is a small chance that he will somehow come out of this and rally and be around for months, but we just don't know.

Journal entry by debbie ducar

Hi Friends- as you learned earlier from Jennifer, our beloved Mike went into jesus’ arms a year ago this evening. We still miss him so much but we spent a great family weekend reminiscing together. I was in Boston with Chris, Sandy and Scott, Bailey and Sara Kerrigan, celebrating sara’s and my birthday and reflecting on all mike taught us. Then I zoomed home today to spend time with Jennifer, James, Henry and Austin. Again we shared fun memories and know mike is in a better place, but that doesn’t make us miss him any less. Thanks to everyone for all your love and support these last many months. We thank God for you and know Jesus will carry us all through. I have learned to trust Him more and more everyday. Love, Debbie
