Michael’s Story

Site created on August 4, 2019

To all who are aware of the current situation, thank you for the positive thoughts and prayers.
Mike was in a severe motorcycle accident in the Brainerd Lakes area on Saturday August 3rd around 6pm. He was on his way home from work when it happened. Mike was heading north on 371 when a pickup pulled out and was sitting in the left hand lane waiting to cross the highway. Mike was able to slow down enough to not be launched from his bike. He hit the pickup on the front side. There was no alcohol that was involved with the accident. He is in stable condition in Hennepin County Medical Center. All updates will be posted in the journal section of this page.

Journal entry by Gillian Richards

He’s home! Mike is out of the hospital 3 days earlier than we expected and we are so thankful. A full three weeks (21 days) in the hospital after the accident and he’s hopping around like no ones business. All three bones broken in his left leg, no weight baring for the next 6 weeks at minimum. He has a rigged up walker now to get around. He is sore and tired but very excited to be back home. Thanks again to everyone who has been with us and following along. It’s goning to be a long recovery but we know the end is in sight.
