Mick’s Story

Site created on August 9, 2021

On August 3, 2021, my dad, Mick McGinty, found out that he had developed lung cancer. Two days later, tests revealed that it was Stage IV and that it was inoperable. This news came as a shock to our entire family and to everyone who knows my dad. Calls, texts, and emails began flooding in to our family, and the love, care, and concern that we have all felt has been extraordinary and comforting. In an effort to keep everyone up to speed, we hope that by subscribing via text or email to this blog, we can continue the care, and most importantly the prayers, in order to help keep my parents' spirits high and filled with hope and faith.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jobey McGinty

Today my Dad would be 69. Every year, I would text or call him and wish him "Happy Pearl Harbor Day!" I never, ever started off our conversation with "Happy Birthday," and it was always our little running joke over the years.

Today will be hard.  I'm so, so grateful that Mom is coming into town today and will be spending the week with us, as this coming Saturday will also be their 45th Anniversary.  The thought for Mom of being in their own home this week, as you can imagine, is just unbearable, and so we would love, love, love your prayers for us, and most specifically, of course, for Mom this week.

But today I am also so grateful to be able to publish a new website as a tribute to Dad's life and his art.  Over the past few weeks, Mom and I have been chronicling all of Dad's works as well as we can, and through that I decided it would be such a great gift to him and to all of us if I was able to collect a lot of his art and his story in one place, and www.mickmcginty.com is now that place.

Like many of Dad's paintings, it's never going to be finished. I have so many more pieces to add, stories to tell, photos to share, and many other ideas for this site, but my hope is that I would be able to get it done just enough in order to be able to share with all of you, and it is!

It's not perfect...I'm no webmaster, but I hope it serves as a place where we can enjoy the many aspects of Dad and what he gave us.

You can subscribe to the site in order to be kept up on any significant updates, and you are also able to comment on many of the pages.

If you find any glitches or mismatched pages, please email me at jobey@lifemission.tv.

Thank you so much for all of your love and care.

Happy Pearl Harbor Day.

Mick's son,

Jobey
