Michelle’s Story

Site created on January 4, 2020

Happy New Year’s dear friends! As I spend the day in reflection of the coming year I wanted to share some recent news. Two days before Thanksgiving I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and have tested positive for the BRCA gene. I’m scheduled to have a bilateral mastectomy on 1/9/20 followed by reconstruction, chemo and radiation. It was caught early during a routine mammogram so I can’t say enough about getting yearly mammograms.  If I waited a year, my story may have a different ending as it’s aggressive but at this stage it’s totally curable! So please....if you’re reading this, go get your mammogram and do so every year! Husbands, fathers, boyfriends and brothers encourage the women in your lives to do so as well. Thank you in advance for all your prayers during the next few months. My family and I really appreciate it! ❤️

Newest Update

Journal entry by Kim Nunn

Just a quick Michelle update since it’s been awhile. Tomorrow is chemo #3 with only 1 more to go!! 🎉 🎊 🥳 .  Historically, the first week after chemo has been a doozy for Michelle, to say the least. By next Saturday she should be back to her sassy, self ready to cook a 4 course meal.  Probably the worst part for Michelle is the extra quarantine she and the family are keeping, as she has no immune system. Nothing worse than keeping Wonder Woman cooped up.

So thoughts and prayers for an uneventful chemo day tomorrow and for the ease of healing next week.

If you didn’t see her post, Michelle shaved her head and made it a family affair. I can honestly say, that girl can rock anything - even a bald head!
