Michelle was admitted to North Memorial Robbinsdale on Monday, March 2, 2020. She wasn't feeling well after work and after several tests, it was determined that Michelle had a tear in her aorta. She went into surgery that night to repair the 4 inches of the aorta that was torn and is currently recovering in the ICU.

Journal entry by Melissa VanHavermaet

Michelle made it home today! She was visited by the Physicians Assistant today who helped during her surgery and he went over all of the details and helped answer all of her questions.

We found out that when they took her off of the heart and lung machine she had no blood or oxygen flow to her brain for 21 minutes! I guess I assumed it was only a couple of minutes, but what a miracle that after 21 minutes she came back to us all as good as new!

Her white blood count was up a little bit today and they said she could stay another day but she opted to see her primary doctor and have her blood checked later this week and go home and rest comfortably.

We went over to enjoy a delicious spaghetti meal made by Lynn Horn! Such a nice surprise and so delicious! Thanks Lynn!!

We will continue to update on Michelle’s progress! It is amazing to see how well she is doing just a week after major surgery!
