Journal entry by Michelle Richardson

My life is normally very busy.  I am filled with daily distractions.  I am always running the roads taking the children to various different activities.  I fulfill my motherly duties, going to the grocery store, doing laundry, keeping the house tidy - sometimes even clean.  At this point all those "duties" have come to a halt.  My life and my identity is wrapped up in those duties.  They give me a feeling of accomplishment, self worth, and most of all an expression of love for my family.  So what do you do when you find yourself in a new season where nothing looks the same and you have been stripped of all your "duties"?  Not to mention I feel extremely uncomfortable with being dependent.   Well what do I do?  Do I wallow in self pity? Do I complain all day? Do I drive myself mad or into depression?
Well, maybe for a little bit.
Maybe a day of all that will do.
After all I am human and I do have emotions.
God knows this about me.  He comforts me in my affliction.
But then He tells me to rise up!  He wants to teach me something.
Oh how I love to learn and especially from Him the creator of my being.   The one who knows me best.
He is the one who holds the secret. The answer.  He is the one who will help me to find purpose even in this
season.   All I have to do is call upon him, and he will answer.
So what does he tell me?
This time is a gift.  When do you have the time in life to just sit and observe nature in all its spender.
When do you have time to spend an 1.5hr with me in the morning doing devotions, drawing closer to me, and praying for others.  When do you have time to just watch your child at play with no distractions.  How about learning how to not feel guilty for resting.   How about learning how to listen to your body in which right now my chest is starting to hurt so I will listen and obey and get back to you!
Can't wait to share some more but I am literally practicing my patience of resting in this moment.
More to come!
