"You will be on chemo for life", "You are inoperable", "Its quality of life", "You are stage 4"..... JUNE 16, 2020, two days after I turned 41 these are statements that were said to me by my oncologist. This is my re birthday! I had two choices....to live or become a statistic. If you know me, I am not one to just exist. I am Gemini and Capricorn, forward is the only option. This day started the fight for life!!! 294 days later, I have been blessed with another gift. The surgical board at MD Anderson approved me for surgery. This is huge because the primary tumor in my colon has caused scar tissue, which has started to create a stricture that has caused BM's to become a major challenge. My oncologist PA presented my case last night. She had given me the warning that they typically won't do surgery when disease is elsewhere in the body (My liver). Little did she know nothing I do is "typical". The surgeon believes that the tumor is in a good location to get good margins and I won't need to permanent poop bag. What about chemo treatments for my liver???? I will be off chemo for probably two months. This sounds like a lot but its not. This will be 4 treatments. As of the 15th, the day I consult with the surgeon, I will have been off chemo for two weeks. Once the surgery is done, I will have to heal and then we will restart treatments. I will have more specific details next week.
