Hello friends! It has been almost six months since my last post, and I wanted to provide an update on my journey. Again, thank you for continuing to show us love and support as we walk this road together. You continue to make a difference for us!

This week I began my nineteenth treatment cycle (of twenty-four) for Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Today I received the news that my most recent scans continue to be clear of lymphoma! I will continue my daily medication regimen for the next six months and then I will go through a battery of tests to determine our next steps. As you may remember, this rare type of cancer cannot be cured, but great strides have been made to keep it under control. This clinical trial has been an answer to so many prayers!

Overall, my health and energy have been good. I have a few side effects from the medication, but none that disrupt my daily routine. My ejection fraction rate has not improved, but it has stabilized, and we continue to keep our eye on it.

Over the last year Kristen and I have been discovering and embracing the spiritual practice of Lament. There is a sacred space in suffering that brings clarity and connection. We are grateful that God welcomes our “How’s” and “Why’s”, our questions and complaints and because of His unfailing love and presence we have reason to trust Him. God has helped us find purpose in our pain and provided us with opportunities to speak to others about our journey and even lead a workshop for Rise Church (Indianapolis) on the topic of Lament. These experiences have helped me to process all that we've faced and continue to step forward in my faith.

Please continue to notice, connect with, and pray for those who are currently in the storms of life. Reach out to them and let them know that you see them and that they are not alone. Even a little bit of encouragement gives a lot of hope to those who are suffering. That is exactly what you’ve done for me. I am blessed.
