Michael’s Story

Site created on September 19, 2019

As many of you already know my husband Michael Strasburg will be having open heart surgery on Thursday (official medical name valve sparing root replacement).

Unfortunately his father passed away from this mutation ACTA2 which was unknown at the time (25 years ago). As well his older brother Riley underwent this exact same surgery 9 years ago and is doing great. Both of them inherited this genetic mutation and have had surgery to help repair just this one area.

On Thursday September 19, 2019 Michael went into the operating room at 8 AM to receive a valve sparing root replacement. This surgery was approximately 7 hours long. After surgery Michael moved to the ICU to be closely monitored and then will be placed in recovery which occurred the following morning September 20, 2019.
This journey has all been placed in the hands of our good Lord God. He will watch over Michael throughout this time.

I will continue to make updates as each day progresses.

We are grateful to know we have so many people looking out for us. Everyone has really given us so much support that I am overwhelmed by the generosity of hugs, cards, gifts & prayers.

We truly thank each and everyone of you who have reached out to us to help or support us on this new journey we will have to endure. We pray everything goes as well as the good Lord lets it be.

We would greatly appreciate anyone to continue to keep us in your prayers and thoughts over these next few days and continuing months of his recovery.

"Be joyful in hope. Patient in affliction. Faithful in prayer"
-Romans 12:12
