Michael’s Story

Site created on July 9, 2019

I was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) on Februrary 18th, 2019 and have since gone through many surgeries, tests, and treatments in preparation for my bone marrow transplant. The incredible amount of support that I have received thus far has helped me and my loved ones keep a positive mindset for the past five months and for the future. As we prepare for the bone marrow transplant we wanted to create a site that will keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Donations on this page go towards helping Caring Bridge continue to be a resource for families, not directly towards my care.

Happy New Year Everyone!
It has been awhile!  I hope everyone is well.
Micheal had his Hillman appointment today.  He hasn’t had one in quite awhile.
Everything is the same!  He keeps getting rashes here and there so Rossetti is leaving him on the Anti- rejection meds.   He was there for hours today getting his monthly Pentamadine and in addition he also received the Pneunococcal Pneumonia Vaccination.  Hillman is still waiting to receive the COVID vaccine.  They believe it will be in January sometime.
After he gets off of the anti-rejection meds they will start all of his Childhood Vaccinations.  Yes, childhood vaccinations!!  The transplant wiped out everything so he will  go through the vaccination schedule just as an newborn!  Crazy!
As far as his Ostomy reversal goes.  He is adjusting very well!  We can still call him “Sir Poops a lot” but he is getting much better.  The wound in his belly is doing ok.  It still has to be packed every day and covered.  It is going to take a long time to heal for sure!
Love to all❤️
