Michael’s Story

Site created on February 18, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.   This is Teri Communicating with you.  We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.   We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.    As you probably know if you are looking at this,  Michael has been diagnosed with STAGE 4 PANCREATIC CANCER.  The FIRST indication  that anything at all was  wrong was on our 48th anniversary , one month ago 1/22/20.   He was having a hard time holding down food, we just thought it was stomach flu...    But we waited about 21/2 weeks and ended up in emergency room on Friday 2/7.  They told us right there that he had a necrotic (dead) mass in his pancreas and metastasized spots on his liver, (among other things!).  They said he had cancer and it was probably Pancreatic.    From there he went straight to the hospital and the new reality of our life began!    He was in the hospital for 10 days with only IV electrolytes (no food) for 7 days.   During that time they told us he indeed does have pancreatic cancer.

He has small cell squamous cancer of the Pancreas.
There is 1 mass 2.7 cm  x3.5cm in the mesentery of Rt pelvis
a necrotic mass  5.4cm x 10.4 cm in Pancreatic body and tail
multiple hepatic metastases (liver)

He has been taking in food via IV since  Valentines day eve.  He is NOT ABLE TO EAT REGULAR FOOD because the cancer is choking his intestines.  They CAN'T OPERATEE because the cancer is too far spread and because if they did the recovery from surgery  would inhibit healing from any treatment.

Left the hospital on Monday.  I have been learning how to do the IV every night for 14 hours. We have no treatment plan and very little hope given to us by doctors.  They are waiting for his body to get stronger from the IV (TCN)

Thank you for visiting.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Michael Creeger

Hi everyone, I know I said I was done with this site but I have something else to say!  We had an intimate ceremony to honor Michael yesterday.  It was our Ohio pastor, Matt, Krista and the kids Ezekiel and Andre with skyped in son, Ian,  Jadie and kids Cadence and Julian.  It was a good closure for us as a an immediate family I think.  But the pastor asked if anybody had memories to share, I could hardly answer that because I needed to share it with my larger family! So many of you are family to us!  You know who you are!  Michael was never really defined by the work he did. He found his identity in the community of people that he shared faith with.  So we have family from our lamb's players days, Ronald Court (and pre in Spring Valley), Sojourners, Denver, 12 step, Peace Church, Reeb, Peace Church, helping hands.  Some of you have been with us through all these seasons, some we have had recent close connection with and others are just formative people who we can never forget!  (I say "we", can't quite let go of that yet!)  Michael loved you all and so do I.  I need to have closure with you all, my family.  So I promise I will figure out a time and a way to have a good-bye ceremony together with you! Please forward this to anyone who might want to see it.  I'm not sure if this site will stay up or not.  Please send me your information if I don't have it so I can keep in touch. tlcreeger@gmail.com.  Thank you.  I say goodbye for now with lots of love in my heart, let us continue to be gifts to those around us.
Teri
