Michael’s Story

Site created on August 25, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On July 28, 2018, Michael found himself extremely short of breath around 10pm.  He told Ginny he needed to go to the hospital.  Luckily, Sarasota Memorial is a few block from their house.  He was admitted, and that's where the saga begins.  He was there through August 24, alternating between ICU and less intense care.  His diagnosis at the present time is interstitial pneumonia.

On Saturday, August 25, he is being transferred to Tampa General Hospital.  He will be reevaluated by a pulmonary specialty group there, and a further course of treatment will be determined.  He will not be seeking or accepting visitors. Visitors mean speaking; speech uses breath.

We ask for your kind thoughts and wishes on his behalf.  The family wants to simplify the amount of time and energy it takes to keep his friends and colleagues informed.  We will be using Caring bridge to do that.  Thank you all on behalf of us and Michael.
