Journal

Mike's been home since Friday afternoon. This is the first chance I've had to write about these first days home. First, I'm so happy Mike is finally home! He had a great send off from the rehab hospital, the therapists, nurses and staff lined up along the hall to clap and say their goodbyes to Mike. It was really amazing! In those two weeks they became Mike's lifeline and support.
Now, its up to me...a hard act to follow. I'm not a medical person so its been a struggle for me to keep up so I just follow my instincts and hope I can do a good job.
The sun was out and it was 80 degrees outside! Like many stroke patients Mike was cold!! He loved being outside and just wanted to take a ride. Shannon met us at home to help me get Mike out of the car and in the house. She went over the meds with me before we went to the pharmacy to pick up all the new ones he will be taking for awhile.
All went well, Mike went with me to get the prescriptions. He just wanted to be outside even if it meant staying in the car. I bought a medicine case, arranged all the new meds with old and felt really good about what I did.
Then at 2:00 am I woke up in a panic worried that I did something wrong. I remembered something the nurses did and knew I did not do that. I ran downstairs brought all the paperwork upstairs and read everything! I realized they stopped that medicine! They must have thought he did not need to have this at home. Wow, what a scare!
Mike get's very tired and we have to keep days short till he gets stronger.
We have many appointments and out-patient therapy but it's all good!
Thank you all again for your interest in Mike's recovery. Mike and I appreciate all the prayers!
