Only you, Michael can turn a post starting out with radiation into one of the most beautiful pieces of writing ever. This was such a gift to us. Sending you love as you start this next stage of treatment.

Dear Michael, it looks like a cottonwood tree, dipping its trunk in the river. Cottonwood's leaves are heart shaped and they sparkle in the sun and wind. I imagine each of our good wishes for you and your family is like the heart shaped leaf, shimmering with love and rejoicing your aliveness, celebrating your agency and your communion, even your helplessness. Next time you visit the tree, you might hear the leaves whispering, we care about you, you are alive right now!!

A lot to share today! I think the doctor is correct: you could be the first he’s seen. You already surpassed so many expectations and milestones.

You, as usual, address the big issues, Michael.

The combination of agency and surrender...

I wish to thank you and commend you for continuing your faithful challenges with such "Balance" and resourceful reflections. Each message you send us is filled with incredible insight and wholesomeness that radiates a willingness to accept these things that happen to us - not with feelings of punishment or defeatism - but with a response to accept and learn from what has happened and deal with it in such positive ways. My heart and prayers continue to be with you in mind Michael. Bobbi and I wish that we had the opportunity to have been in a closer proximity to you in the past - but it seems we have always lived so remotely from all of our beloved families. We still do not know if our attempted Bischoff Reunion in Wisconsin will provide us an opportunity to visit with you, or not. Again, thank you for all of your continuing reflections on survival and living with a true meaning.
