HI Michael, I'm grateful that the ideas of Viktor Frankl I shared provided some inspiration and solace. I thought I'd share this longer quote about his work, from The Power of Love book by Fran Grace. Meaning comes through three avenues, each a path to self-transcendence:
1) a creative work, deed, or vocation
2) an experience or encounter with beauty, truth, nature, or with another person by loving them in their uniqueness
3) the attitude taken toward inescapable suffering, to bear it with inner fortitude. You can't escape the condition, but you can choose your attitude toward it and fill it with meaning.

You inspire me with how you are healing through meaning along all three dimensions.
There is a beautiful gentle snow falling outside and I just spent sometime reading Victor Frankl, thanks to your post. Sending you extra love this morning.
I hope you and Jenny find the hospitable space for opening to grace. The idea that our best purpose here is to contribute healing to our world in big and small ways is a very powerful thought and a good place to start when trying to answer the question of what to do next. You continue to inspire me.
Thank you for sharing the wisdom that healing isn’t primarily a product of attitude! It seems to me that most of us are hard enough on ourselves without also being ashamed of how we didn’t micromanage our attitudes. Blessings, love, and light, Joel
