Michael’s Story

Site created on December 31, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Michael started to feel ill on Christmas Eve, December 24th, and his symptoms made us suspect COVID as a very real possibility.  Due to the holiday, we were not able to schedule a COVID test until Sunday the 26th.  Results did not come in until late on Tuesday the 28th.

MIchael received a monoclonal antibody infusion on Monday the 27th, after much deliberation with Kaiser's care team.  Although his COVID results had not yet been finalized, his high temps, shortness of breath, and declining O2 levels were a clear indication of his need for infusion.

Early on Wednesday morning, at roughly 3:30 AM, Lynette drove Michael to the ER at Kaiser (on Morse).  At the time, Mike's oxygen level had dropped to the low 80s.  She was advised to drop him off and go home, as it was not advisable for her to go in.

Early assessments indicated pneumonia.  There were also signs of stress on his heart, following an EKG and lab tests.  Treatment was immediately initiated for both.  His O2 levels started rising as soon as he was given oxygen.

Michael has been at Kaiser since.

This journal is for all who wish to check on updates.  While we appreciate everyone's loving concern, we would respectfully ask that you do not contact Michael directly, either by text or phone.  Our highest priority is for his health and well-being, and this should be his main focus.

Incidentally, Lynette and the girls are also COVID positive but are only suffering minor cold symptoms, along with loss of taste and smell.  As of 12/31, we are glad to report that we are slowly but surely recovering.

Thank you so much for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support.
