Newest Update

Journal entry by Alfredo Reyes

Sorry we haven't updated in a while, it's been kinda hectic and there really wasn't a whole lot to update.

Yesterday Stacy and Mercedize went to Chicago for her appointment that was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was moved a day back because of the weather in Chicago. They gave Mercedize a 10 min drip chemo and then they gave her an hour long drip. For the hour long drip, they hooked her up to all the monitors so they can see her heart rate, blood pressure...etc..etc. They do that with this type of chemo because it is extremely aggressive and they worry about side effects. Mercedize did have some side effects. She was very nauseous, got very hot and was complaining that her eyes were hurting. At one point they had 4 nurses and her Dr in the room with her to make sure everything was going smoothly. After the hour had gone by, they kept Mercedize for another hour so they can monitor her and make sure she didnt have any side effects before they let her go home.

She didn't need any blood. All her levels were good. She is currently on day 64 of the 71 day phase.

The fact that she hasn't needed any blood what so ever is very concerning to her mother and I. We were told by her Dr that with the current phase she's in, she would need to have blood transfusions more often, well that's not the case. Stacy and I have said all along that we felt this wasn't working. We have stayed positive with Mercedize when we talk to her but, we both feel the same way. Hopefully thats not the case, but its not looking that way. Don't get us wrong, We are glad she isn't in pain and feels great but, as parents, we can't help but worry. She is supposed to have some bone marrow taken the second week in February and at that point, we will know exactly whats happening. Either way, we hope we haven't lost 71 days with Sadie. Time is so precious right now.

Thank You all so much for the kind words, thoughts and prayers.
