It’s been a long year for Melody Lydy. Hospitalizations, ER visits, tests, procedures, telemedicine, and multiple long distance trips to Portland resulted in a diagnosis and treatment options for chronic pancreatic illness. 
As a lifelong friend, I am helping Melody coordinate this fundraiser to achieve her goal of obtaining candidacy for the TPIAT (total pancreatectomy and islet auto-transplant).
Melody manages the funds, which pay for essentials not covered by insurance. These include, but are not limited to, a highly specialized  diet which includes medications not covered by insurance, supplements, an adequate phone to facilitate reliable communication with numerous specialists, telemedicine visits, video conferences, internet access to research treatment recommendations, and reliable internet access for a remote location. Melody has to provide her own transportation when medical transport is unavailable, or certain appointments require her to stay overnight in Portland so she needs gas in her vehicle. 
Post surgery, Melody is required to stay in lodging near the hospital for frequent surgical follow up and in case of complications. She is having a transplant!
Employment options are limited due to the pandemic in addition to being too ill to physically work and her doctors have advised against doing so. Melody is reaching out to any and all who can help.
