Melody’s Story

Site created on March 19, 2020

Hey everyone!
As you all know, Melody Benson, is my mom.

She has spent her entire life taking care of others as she worked for Community Hospital Network for over 40 years before her Lupus forced her into retirement.

She worked for years at the Lupus Foundation of America, Indiana Chapter constantly growing the participation at the Indianapolis walk. She was also instrumental with the local staff in growing support groups, resources, and educational material.

She is a mother to 3 beautiful daughters and wife for 40 years.

We will update information on her battle with breast cancer! She was newly diagnosed with breast cancer within a year of her daughter Jenn. Follow along Melody’s battle, sending all of the prayers, and good vibes.

We love you all!!!

Oh beautiful family and friends, we need you more than ever. Send up the prayers, vibes, thoughts, whatever you got!!!♥️♥️

Yesterday mom, Megg, myself, and our cousin Jarrett went off to the Colts game for mom’s Crucial Catch celebrations.

When we got to our seats, mom told us something was not right. She immediately went into (what I thought) was a seizure. She wasn’t responding to us so Megg went for help. I tried sternum rubs, and ultimately had to do compressions right in her seat. We finally got EMS to her and went by ambulance to Methodist.

Here we learned her heart rate was extremely low. They were able to get her into rhythm and put in a temporary pacemaker.

She was SOOO much better after this. She doesn’t remember anything from getting to the seats, to waking up in her hospital room last night. All is well, I’m glad of this.

We continue to be beyond blessed with all of your love and support. Unfortunately, due to covid, she is only allowed to have one guest throughout her hospital stay.

Our hope is she will get the pacemaker placed, then will likely be able to come home tomorrow!! Isn’t she the strongest??? Goodness♥️

As always, thank you for being you. For all of the love, thoughts, prayers, meals, ALL of the things. Enjoy a couple of pictures from before our chaos.

Much love,
JennBenn
