Journal entry by Melissa Fraser —
I decided yesterday that I don’t want to have the lift and reduction. I’ve gotten used to the extreme asymmetry but am still self conscious in public. I emailed my surgeon and told him I think I’d had enough surgery to last a lifetime but asked if I could get a prosthetic to wear in public. Since my right side is half the size of my left, I’d like to not worry about people noticing and I’d like to wear something besides sports bras. Waddell’s nurse called ,e earlier to let me know a prescription has been written and I’ll get a call about going to get fitted soon.
So, a prosthetic is my next step, followed by getting my tattoo coverup. I need to find out how long I have to wait since the end of radiation first and then work out details. It feels like major parts of this journey are finally coming to an end and it’s such a relief.
