I don't know what to put in this spot but it's making me type something.  Who doesn't know my story by now?? 😁

Journal entry by Melissa Doyle

Popi came "home" yesterday! (Saturday). His cardiologist said he wasn't even sure why he wasn't home already 😁. We brought him to our little rental right by the hospital until later this week.  He says he's very comfortable here for now.  He and Mimi will be moving to Nathan's this Wednesday for two weeks so Popi can have his follow up appts.  Then when they say he can leave Jacksonville we will take them to Chipley (4 hours away from Jax.)

Once Popi got "home" to the rental yesterday, he rested, then walked and rested some more.  Nathan, Amanda and the kids came for the evening and we had a nice meal together.  Afterwards Popi wanted to go to bed so once we got him comfortable, he was OUT. He had a great night with more sleep than he'd had in a while.

While he slept the rest of us went into the front porch and played a game Nate and Daevi brought over called Relative Hysteria.  It's a "wacky" game about your relatives and it's HYSTERICAL.  I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.  I'm still laughing about it today.

Popi didn't wake up for the day until around 8:30!  He seems rested and chatty 😁. Yes!  I fixed him a full breakfast of things he likes.  Blueberry pancakes, cheese grits, sausage and eggs.  His appetite is back and he seemed to really enjoy it ..I mean, he just spent a week eating hospital food. 🤔🤣

Later today he'll get his first visit from Home Health.  We're looking forward to those visits because they make the rest of us feel less concerned about whether or not we are handling his care correctly.

Check out the pictures.  The first one was last night during his first meal at home, the next one is last night during our game on the front porch, and this morning is of him having his welcome home breakfast this morning.  🥓☕🍳

We couldn't be happier with his progress.  He has a long way to go...I keep saying that because he's not back to his old self at all yet and I want to honestly convey that when u see him, he may look the same or similar to you, but there are many things he is working on.  He is healing quickly in some ways and has not in others yet.  But his motivation is absolutely sky high and super strong so it will come.  😍😍😍

He's reading this blog now, so leave him a message here..he loves that!
