Melissa’s Story

Site created on July 4, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. on June 29th Melissa was stopping at the Holiday Gas Station after work to grab something quick. She was standing in line and was just getting to the counter when she collapsed and was seizing. Within a minute, one of the employees called 911 and less then 2 minutes after that the first officer arrived on scene. She still had a pulse at this time, 2nd officer arrives on scene, has a slight pulse, paramedics arrive and we assume that is when she was in full cardiac arrest and CPR was started. They had to shock her twice to get her heart started. She was admitted to the ICU at Mercy where she was on a ventilator and was placed in a medically induced coma. She has since woken up, breathing tube is out and she is breathing on her own and is becoming more responsive everyday. All praise for what has happened with my sister goes to the Lord. They expected her to have brain damage........MRI she had done shows she has none. They were preparing us to expect a not so great outcome if she even made it thru.
