Melanie’s Story

Site created on March 20, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

As many of you know, Melanie was diagnosed with brain cancer in July of 2016. She has undergone chemo and radiation treatments, which slowed the growth down for a bit. However, about a month ago an MRI showed that Melanie's cancer has progressed to a more advanced stage. Last week, Melanie was admitted into the hospital due to brain swelling. It was a really tough and scary few days. While in the hospital, doctors put her on steroids to make the inflammation go down and it worked! However, her memory is not where it used to be and she still needs 24 hour care. We are hopeful that the doctors will find a treatment soon which will help Melanie gain her memory back and slow the cancer down. There are so many people that love Melanie dearly but as of right now, all we are asking for are meals to be delivered to the house to help her and her family get through this time. Later, as she gets better we will be asking for people to come to the house to be with Melanie and surround her with love.

We will be updating this website as we know more information (texting and calling everyone can be exhausting) so please check regularly for updates! If you would like to sign up to bring meals, that can be located in the "how to help" and planner section.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We love you all.

Journal entry by Candice Moore

Well, maybe we were a little zealous in saying. "Just stop by!"  Melanie sometimes gets her days and nights mixed up and sleeps during the day.  Emma was a champ at keeping Melanie entertained and awake during the day so that she would sleep at night!  Now, there are days that Melanie sleeps, so please call before coming to the house.
Kemp and Melanie truly appreciate the home cooked meals that have been delivered, the Grub Hub deliveries, the cards, emails, texts, and the many thoughts and prayers that have been sent their way.  It is overwhelming to Melanie's siblings and mother how far reaching her effect is and the number of lives that she has touched!  We are also grateful, beyond words, for the communities which she is a part.
Thank you, all, for loving her as much as we do!
