Journal entry by Melanie Jacks —
Breast surgery with lymph node removal is today. Lumpectomy since chemo shrank tumor. They will take a minimum of one lymph node but maybe more. They test surrounding lymph nodes in OR and take what they need to. I may have to go home with a drain tube. Not looking forward to that since I have a 3 and just turned 5 year old. Outpatient procedure. Trey is taking me, and my mom is coming to the hospital later as I have to have several procedures done this morning prior to surgery. They inject me with something to help them localize the sentinel node and then a needle wire insertion is done to locate the mass in breast. These things happen at 9, 9:30, and 10AM. Surgery is after 1:00PM today. Will be a long day of waiting around by myself. Continued prayers are appreciated.
