Megan’s surgery is coming up on Monday. We’re all doing our best to stay calm. It’s not easy, but we continue to go about our daily activities — keeping busy, occupying our minds with other thoughts.
Megan has an Indoor Percussion competition this Saturday — in between all the time she spends with her boyfriend, Joseph….
Chelsea continues with her after-school activities — Role Playing Game Club, Anime Club, and sometimes, Writer’s Club — plus Girl Scouts and doing her own cosplay stuff and drawing.
I’m in rehearsals for another play at a local theatre here in Knoxville — Of Good Stock by Melissa Ross. It’s a brilliant play and I have an amazing cast. I’m also going up for Tenure at Pellissippi this semester. The department meeting is this Tuesday, March 10. Fingers crossed! Wish me luck!
Pete holds down the fort at home keeps us all on track — driving the girls back and forth to their various activities, feeding and caring for the dogs, managing the house and bills, and creating random dinosaur figure panoramas around the house.
So life….
While we are all anxious about Megan’s surgery, we’re also ready to get back to normalcy. Especially Megan. We are ready to put the chapter of our lives behind us. Again, especially Megan.
The surgery —Tracheal Resection — requires a minimum one week hospital stay, more likely two weeks. Plus additional recovery time at home. So, more missed school. More hospital visits. More bills.
Speaking of bills….
The generous folx at Westside Unitarian Universalist Church — spear-headed by Rev. Carol Bodeau and Wendy Weiss — have set up a GoFundMe site for us to help defray the rising medical costs we are facing — including all the traveling back and forth to Nashville. Honestly, I was hesitant to accept the offer — (I’ve never been all that great about being able to accept help from others) but I am learning to appreciate the kindness and generosity of others — especially from those who have given so much already. And that kindness and generosity is indeed greatly appreciated — more than I can ever adequately express.
Here is the link to that GoFundMe page for anyone who may be interested. And thank you.
My mom and step-father arrive today to be here with us for all of next week. So glad they are coming! I don’t know what we would do without them….
Trying to catch up on grading...
More later…

A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Megan's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
