Banyan and McKay’s Story

Site created on February 24, 2020

Hello Friends and Family of McKay and Banyan Wood.

Welcome to their CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.

Julianne and McKay are so very grateful for the support and service they have received over the past couple weeks. Both are still healing, Banyan in a wheel chair, and McKay with pain, but getting back to normal life activities with school and work.

Your visits and extra pairs of hands will always be appreciated, feel free to reach out directly to the Wood family for anything.

THANK YOU!!

WHAT HAPPENED?
Saturday the 22nd, McKay and Banyan were on a young men down hill tubing activity. The group received advice on which run was safe, but unbeknownst to them, there was a curve at the bottom. The first two leaders that went down the hill went over the end and into the trees, one of them getting stuck and scraped but not injured. McKay and Banyan came next  and were not able to be warned of the curve. They launched into the trees, Banyan breaking his leg and McKay being knocked out with a head injury. McKay was airlifted to Royal Columbia Hostpital and Banyan went to Abbotsford hospital for surgery.

We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Nina Brown

Julianne and McKay are so very grateful for the outpouring of love, and service that they have received.

Both Banyan and Mckay are on the mend. Banyan as a pretty sweet set up with his video games in his room that accommodate his full leg cast and left arm cast.

McKay made a short appearance at church yesterday, has started to take on some work, and just had an MRI.

A far way to go and helping hands will always be appreciated, but they on their way.
