Maura’s Story

Site created on October 14, 2019

On September 25, Maura left work with abdominal pain and was originally diagnosed with a ruptured appendix after being admitted to Howard County General. Just days before embarking on what was to be her 30th wedding anniversary cruise, we found out that what would have been a routine procedure would no longer be helpful. During the rest of her stay at Howard County General she was given multiple CTs and was ultimately diagnosed with Stage IV appendix cancer. Please share anything you wish to with her here. We will update this page regularly to keep everyone informed.
There is a link to her MealTrain under the "Ways to Help" tab above.
Monetary contributions may also be made in the form of gift cards/check/whatever you'd prefer, care of her mother, Cathleen Young 5577 Suffield Court Columbia, MD 21044.

Mom wanted me to update everyone. She has now had two treatments of chemo, with minimal side effects. Her diet is getting a lot better and she is able to nutrients a couple times a week instead of every night. She is working, seeing about 6-7 patients two days a week, while she is still able and comfortable. Getting acupuncture and PT each week, which is helping with her posture and pains. Overall, doing pretty well!!
If I'm forgetting anything, I'm sorry. Just comment with any question and we will try to answer them.
Thank you everyone!!
