Journal entry by Jennifer Braun

Good Morning Friends and Family,

I apologize for the lag in information, but we have been processing and seeking answers with different doctors.

Matt finished his cancer treatment, EPOCH-R, on April 16th 2021.  Within a week Matt's cancer  relapsed and was found in his spinal fluid and in the fluid surrounding his head.  On a positive note, the cancer in his abdomen was cleared.  To prevent the lymphoma from spreading to his brain Matt has received several spinal taps and chemotherapy treatments in his spine.   The medical team at John Hopkins believes this current therapy is not sufficient and they referred us to NIH to enter a clinical trial.  Matt will begin this clinical trial this month and it will continue to receive treatment until October/November.  Once Matt completes the clinical trial we pray he will be cancer free!  The next step will be a bone marrow transplant.  It is a long process and we are beginning to find donor matches now.  If any family would be willing to see if they are a match, please let us know.  Even a half match would make a difference in preventing Matt's cancer from recurring.

As you can imagine we are experiencing an emotional rollercoaster and I apologize for the unreturned texts, phone calls, and emails.  We are fighting to stay strong and positive during this time and appreciate the love we have received from all of you.  It takes a village and we are so thankful for ours.  Please continue to pray boldly that Matt overcomes this cancer and that our children are strong and secure.  Thank you!
