Journal entry by Desiree (Anira) Harrison —
After MANY conversations with doctors, nurses and specialists, Matthew’s care team agreed he could come home. He will still be on some strong meds including a nebulizer for bit but will get to rest in his own bed tonight (maybe after a shower 😉).
There is no specific diagnosis regarding the situation but we believe that his lungs were damaged from Covid and that, especially when he is coughing a lot, his lungs don’t have as much capacity to transfer the oxygen to the blood cells.
He is not going home on oxygen and has taken himself off of oxygen since early this morning. They are providing him at home nebuliser treatments and we will be able to keep the nebuliser for future situations. Currently, the plan is that when he gets a cold we will contact our preferred care provider to prescribe another nebuliser treatment to prevent him from getting ill enough to need to be hospitalised in the future.
Thankfully, he’s coming home on a Friday and this has two full days of rest before he will be returning to work (or at least that is the plan)
Thank you, Everyone, for your love, prayers and support!!! If we don’t get to speak with you before then, have a Bright and Beautiful Christmastide!
