Journal entry by Rose Holley —
Matthew's procedure went quickly. They did not find anything visually. In fact, it all looked really good. They did still take a biopsy in case there was anything that they couldn't see.
He was up early on his own (as soon as he heard mom and dad up). He was alert and rowdy for the staff. They thought he was great! He did not seem to mind the extra attention. It was definitely different seeing him in the bed set up like a "cage". He did not want to wake up from the anesthesia, though.
They wanted to try a mask to put him to sleep. Unfortunately, it did not work. Then, the first attempt at an IV in the left arm failed. So I found him with an line of saline in his right arm. A bit of a trigger for me, as it's been a year since we saw those things. I didn't really think we would be back to this already. I also found out they did intubation, but I'm glad I didn't have to see that. Luckily, this was all for a minor procedure and not what we had feared, yet.
