Matthew Calvin’s Story

Site created on September 22, 2018

On Monday, September 17, 2018, Matthew Calvin Morris passed away. He is survived by his wife, Valerie and their three children, Selah, Ella and Landon, his mother, father, siblings and parents.

Matt's passing was unexpected. As you can imagine, we are all shocked and are still reeling from the news, overwhelmed with grief, and clinging to one another for comfort and strength. The information we are sharing here on this website is meant to provide you with as much information as the family is willing to share at this time, providing you with answers to some of your questions and an avenue to leave your condolences and well wishes. Please give the family time and space which will allow them to focus on one another and sort out the details of Matt's passing, next immediate steps, and the daunting task of continuing on in life with the chasm Matt once filled. Messages and calls will be returned as soon as humanly possible.

Matt took his own life on Monday. For those of you who know him, know his love for his family and his community, know how difficult this is to fathom. As we attempt to make sense of this, we ask you to offer your thoughts and prayers and kindly keep your well-meaning comments to yourselves.

His family, here on the mainland along with a few friends in Puerto Rico, have been working to make the necessary arrangements to bring him home. Once he is home, memorial arrangements will be made and announced on this website. Until then, the family asks you to continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the GoFundMe page; address is located in this website. Notes and cards and financial support are also welcome.  For all community support, please contact Pastor Wes Cummings  from Grace Baptist Church, 1300 N. Rusk Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086, (817) 507-5816.

Thank you all for your love and support.
