Journal entry by Janelle Crowe —
Its hard to believe this June, we are coming up on two years post Matts accident...what an incredible journey this has been and continues to be. While Matt was in recovery at Craig Hospital he set a high goal for himself post one year accident. The goal was to get back on a road bike and complete Colorado's 120 mile bike ride “The Triple Bypass” the following July. Needless to say, I (along with many others) had reservations, but Matt was persistent.
As months of physical therapy passed and Matt started to obtain more strength, a group of friends and Team Evergreen Cycling pledged support for Matt. This began a process of filming a documentary of Matt's remarkable story, highlighting the Triple Bypass Ride.
Sponsorship from Team Evergreen Cycling, Restoration Community Church , Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center , Centura Health , Craig Hospital, Primal Wear, Inc., Amaze Your Self and Audi Denver made this film financially possible. Most importantly, we know it is God who made the miracle of Matts recovery possible...it is why we are here. I recently read a quote from Paul Young that speaks to the heart of what we've lived these past two years:
“Grace doesn't depend on suffering to exist, but where there is suffering you will find grace in many facets and colors”
Thank you for being grace and love to us during this journey. In one way or another, we believe that you have been a part of this miracle. Your support, through countless ways expressed, means more than you may ever realize and we credit toward Matt's progress.
Please watch the short film “Riding Back to Life” and pass along to whoever you think might enjoy it. May you be inspired to have faith, never give up and live life in gratitude!
