Matt would like to just send out an update to everyone. He has been home for a week now and has been doing well. He is able to complete daily living activities quite normally! The prognosis and diagnosis are obviously not great, but he is not giving up. Today, he is at United for more testing in order to prepare for radiation and chemotherapy treatments. We really appreciate everyone’s help. He says “if life was just about statistics, the Vikings would have won the Super Bowl already, but life is about playing the game in order to win too. It is not just stats that matter, I am going to fight too”.
Hello friends and family, We (Ellen, Andrea and Grant) want you to know that Matt has prevailed through countless types of radiation and chemotherapy these past ten months. It has been a roller-coaster of ups and downs for his mind, body and soul. However, he works hard to stay positive and makes time for short excursions out of the house when energy levels allow him. Our sincere thanks to everyone who continues to pray and think about us during this difficult time. We take it all one day at a time and "keep going" (Matts new favorite saying) through the kindness of friends, family and one another. In other news: Matt got his first tattoo (a whole new level of "cool dad")! It says "Keep Going" with three trees above it. Thanks again for all the support that we have received these past ten months.

On Monday January 7th, Matt went to United Hosptial with the impression that something was not right with his epilepsy medications. His life with epilepsy has brought many ups and downs, but we were definitely not prepared to hear that his symptoms had nothing to do with his epilepsy. Rather, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Tuesday involved more tests, which indicated that Matt’s tumor was about two inches and was located within the brain. Wednesday, Matt had brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. We are so incredibly lucky that his neurosurgeon was one of the best in the world. We are so lucky to be surrounded by an awesome care team. He made it through the surgery and was informed that the mass would be sent to have a biopsy done. For the past two days, Matt has been on the mend. He’s been joking around when he can (a good sign that he’s staying strong!) and has been fighting to stay positive, as we are not sure what the road ahead will bring. We have been surrounded by amazing people that love Matt! Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. We will keep this updated as much as possible.
