Mary Katherine’s Story

Site created on November 8, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and prayers and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Mary Katherine Prewitt is 24 years old, the daughter of Tim and Cindy Prewitt and brother to Kyle Prewitt from Tupelo MS. She is a senior in her last semester at Mississippi State University majoring in English. She is a creative, caring, loving, devoted daughter and student. I am proud to call her my child.

Accident:  Mary Katherine was in a car accident on October 16, 2020 that resulted in her being rushed to the local OCH (Oktibbeha County Hospital) facility in Starkville, MS. and then air lifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. NMMC is a level 2 trauma center for her type injury.  Her evaluation from the accident is traumatic brain injury.  The injury occurred from a large modified pickup truck colliding without braking into the rear of the automobile where she was a passenger. Mary Katherine was in the back seat.

My family and I are truly humbled by your willingness to help us pray for my daughter’s recovery. Thank you for praying with us from the bottom of our hearts. God Bless You!

Today’s Prayer by Tim Prewitt

Start of Prayer for Mary Katherine Prewitt

Lord, we the end of the year 2023 with thankful hearts, start the new year with peace, faith, love, and most of all hope.

Let us release the bitterness and frustrations of the past year and think of them never again. Let us move into 2024 knowing that You, our Lord, and Savior, loves us and wants the best for his children.

We pray that this new year will be focused on agreement prayers and healing. Healing of our precious Mary Katherine from her severe traumatic brain injury and the many others like her in need of Your healing touch.

Lord, in this new year help us remember Your promises and who You are. It is because of Jesus’ love that we can have hope. We can have hope because You are faithful to us. We can have hope because we are faithful to You. You are our source of hope and joy. Our commitment is our bond.

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Lord Jesus, we come to You in this new year with a desire to move forward, not backward. We are eager to put the past away and press on toward a future of serving You.

Lord, we are claiming all the days in 2024 for hope, progress, happiness, and most of all Mary Katherine’s healing.

Lord, because of Your love and the price You paid for our sin, we can enjoy a victorious new year and a triumphant life.

We pray our agreement prayers will change the world. We will continue praying. Where there is life there is hope. We claim restoration for Mary Katherine.

We pray and believe in You, our Father, to have influence. We claim these restorations and healing for Mary Katherine and all, every person, on this prayer list in Jesus Name.

Amen.

End of Prayer

Update on recovery path from the team – Patty, Kyle, Cindy, &Tim

Mary Katherine is working on her exercises daily with Patty and Cindy. The therapies are numerous. Sometimes the therapies change as MK progresses. We have learned that the therapies work best when they are repeated daily. This gives MK confidence because she can work on them and improve her speed and performance. Mrs. Patty is such a blessing working with Mary Katherine. MK loves Patty so much as do we all and we appreciate her efforts.

Kat will stand on her own from her bed pulling up on the back of the reclining chair. Usually there is someone with her to make sure her ankle stays straight on her right leg. She normally stands for 1 hour at a time.

Mary Katherine walks daily with her mom and dad after supper usually. She has a path that she uses in the house with her upright walker, and she repeats this daily. She is improving with the speed of her walking, and we are thinking that the right side is improving in her overall ability. It is still far from strong, but it is not staying the same or moving backward and we consider this a victory. Please keep praying for her right side.

Mary Katherine normally gets to the bedroom at about 10 pm and then by 11:30 she is ready to try and sleep. It is a blessing for her to sleep throughout the night. We are so thankful for MK to be sleeping as well as she does because this allows us, her parents, to be able to get some sleep. Your prayers for Mary Katherine are making a difference in her life and ours!

PRAYER ITEMS This is what we need you to focus on when you pray:
