Mary Ann’s Story

Site created on August 2, 2020

Welcome to Mary Ann's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated on her condition and any changes to that. On July 29th, Mary Ann "Mom" was admitted to Mercy Hospital with very low blood pressure.  They did a angiogram and determined that she had recently had another heart attack and that her heart is now working at 30%, which is 1/2 of a normal 60%.  In addition, she was found to have a very bad bladder infection which was most likely causing the low blood pressure.  They monitored her in the ICU for a couple of days while the antibiotics did their work and her blood pressure returned to her normal.  During her stay she complained of pain in her foot and it was found that she has a blood clot in her leg which has greatly reduced her blood flow to her foot.  Because of the state of her heart she is unable to have surgery to remove the clot, or to use drugs to try and break it up.  Based on her current reduced heart and other circulatory issues going on, in addition to her Parkinson's (with dementia) she is going into Hospice care and we are ensuring that she is comfortable and happy.  She has returned to Edgewood in the Memory Care area where they are taking great care of her.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting!
