Grandpa moved back home on Tuesday!
87 days later. I remember sitting at Abbott 12 weeks ago constantly hearing doctors saying “it’s going to be a long road”. “He’s got a long road of recovery in front of him”. And it was a long road. And it’s not over yet, he’s still recovering, still regaining strength. But he’s home. For me personally, this experience brought a lot of fear, anxiety, sadness, and heartbreak. Coming so close to losing my grandpa and watching my family break down time and time again has been the hardest thing. But it’s also showed me how important the little things are. How small improvements and moments are huge. These weeks have showed me how good the Lord is and how he is here with us in every single step of this life. And that’s just from my perspective. I cannot even imagine to bear what grandpa has been through. I can’t speak for my grandpa, but we’ve watched him go through 2 surgeries, a heart attack, a stroke, organ failure, septic shock, and a world of pain that he didn’t deserve to go through. But he won this fight and has proved to all of us that he is the strongest man out there. I am so so so happy to say that this will be the last post from me on this page. Thank you so much to everyone who came to visit, and who showed their love and prayed during this time. It means the world.
