Marilynn’s Story

Site created on October 31, 2018

On Sunday 10/28/2018 Marilynn Huffman, whom you may know by the many titles of wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother or friend, had an accident where both of her Femurs were shattered. Marilynn was moved to Harbor View Medical in Seattle where she had surgery late Monday night. Both legs were operated on, and two rods and thirty some screws later, she is starting to come around. Jim and family have spent a lot of time keeping those of you for praying and thinking about Marilynn in the loop. We are creating this site to make it easier for him to keep everyone updated. The amount of people that have reached out truly show how special Marilynn is, and we can't thank you enough for the thoughts and prayers.

Journal entry by Jennifer Orr

All is well. Mom and I met with one of the nursing coordinators today. We got a lot of questions answered and a plan in place. There have been some difficulties keeping mom’s blood sugar consistent which has been a frustration for her. Planning to get her insulin pump set up tomorrow so hopefully that will give her some peace of mind. :)

Physical and occupational therapists were in  today and worked with mom, outlining goals and plans for her stay there. It’s astounding to us (and her) how much her life has changed in the two weeks since this happened. Her spirits are generally good during the day, but evenings are  when she is most tired and overwhelmed.

I can’t emphasize how important encouraging messages are to mom right now.  She has always been a very busy and competent woman and since this accident she has had all of her independence taken away. She is so encouraged by messages that focus on her strength and determination. I can’t explain it very well but somehow it bolsters her confidence in the face of circumstances that are frankly, overwhelming to us all.

I think it still will be a few days before visitors can come. As I mentioned before, she is settling in and once a routine is established I know she will welcome the company.

As always, we are appreciative and grateful for the blessings bestowed on us in the last two weeks... and most of all, the family and friends that have been so important to us all!

Love to you all,

-Jennifer
