Marilyn’s Story

Site created on May 23, 2018

Thank you for visiting our CaringBridge website! This will be the portal for keeping family and friends updated in one place and also as a place of encouragement for Marilyn to come and read your messages of hope and support!

Marilyn was diagnosed with endometrial cancer May 10, 2018 with the discovery of a tumor larger than a golf ball. Initial blood test and CT scan were encouraging in that they didn't pick up any spreading of the cancer so far, but the cell type is of an aggressive nature. Marilyn is facing surgery on June 1st and in the meantime, pursuing some integrative medical therapies to help build up her immune system and prepare her body for surgery and recovery as well as treatment afterwards to target any remaining cancer cells. Some of the therapies are costly but hopeful in terms of longterm success in treatment, and along with her interest in these, she has already radically changed her diet to help fight the cancer on that front as well. We covet your prayers for her as she embarks upon this journey. Please pray for clarity, wisdom and direction as she makes decisions about treatment, and also for financial provision.  The Boyers are members of a health sharing network, but don't have actual insurance, so any gifts will be truly helpful in obtaining these treatments as some of the costs must be paid up front and prolonging the start of treatment is not recommended.  If you would like to help in donating towards her treatments and related expenses, please visit her GoFundMe at https://www.gofundme.com/5l62c5k.

*ABOUT GIVING: We have been absolutely overwhelmed with the outpouring of prayer and financial support within this first week of establishing a CaringBridge page! Your flood of care and concern blew us away and we are so very grateful, humbled and thankful for you! We've been contacted by a couple different individuals who wanted to give, but preferred to send a check directly rather than through GoFundMe, and mentioned a fact that we thought we should share, for clarification and for your information, that GoFundMe *does take a percentage* of each gift for their operating expenses, etc. If you wanted to give but would prefer to bypass that so 100% of your gift goes to Marilyn's expenses, cards or gifts can be sent instead to Marilyn Boyer, c/o Character Concepts, 2430 Sunnymeade Rd., Rustburg, VA 24588. If you do want to give through Marilyn's GoFundMe, please use the link https://www.gofundme.com/5l62c5k. (Note: The link below this update, "Donate to CaringBridge," does not actually go to Marilyn's fund, but rather to the CaringBridge website for their expenses, etc. in bringing sites like Marilyn's to the public. It is a good and useful service, but it's not otherwise benefitting Marilyn herself.) We wanted to make sure to clarify these things for you so you know exactly where your money is going and can choose how you wish to channel your gift accordingly.

Once again, thank you so very much for your generosity and encouragement! You have been used by our good Heavenly Father to encourage our hearts and shower us with His love!

Journal entry by Marilyn Boyer

Hi friends!

I returned home from Hope4Cancer late Sunday night. I was there for one week, having diagnostics and a week of immune boosting treatments. Diagnostics were blood tests, thermography, ultrasound and hair analysis to determine any toxicities, vitamin/amino acid needs, etc. All cancer markers were great! Praise the Lord! Still in remission! It was Dr. Tony week (he's the head of Hope4 Cancer). He had personal consult with each patient and then a Q &A with everyone. He gave me a high five for good test results!

I had a few issues to address other than cancer- like needing digestive enzymes to better process protein, not getting enough healthy fats, so need to increase that, Also low on some amino acids and some B vitamins, etc, but overall looking good.

Then I had a week's worth of 18 different immune boosting therapies- Hyperbaric Oxygen chamber, Hyperthermia (which I'd missed initially having been so soon out of surgery), Ozone, Near Infrared Lamp, Light bed, High dose Vit C, IV B 17, Indiba (localized hyperthermia), Lymphatic massage, PEMF, Lymphatic Vibration machine, Colon Cleanse, and a new treatment- Ultraviolet Light Blood Irradiation. Also got a nutrition consult and tweeked few things in my diet.

Got some sunshine every late afternoon. Clinic goes from 7:30 till 3 each day. Then I'd head for the beach and my daily dose of Vitamin D. Also had couple of doctor consults, etc.

Each day opens with prayer and singing Christian songs. It's such a caring, healing environment. SO thankful to have been able to go and THANK YOU to everyone who helped to make that happen! I was able to encourage new patients as it's kind of intimidating right at first and so different than what they do here in the states. Their motto is do no harm and every treatment builds up your body's defenses and immune system. I'm so grateful to the Lord and friends and family for making it happen!
