Journal entry by Kevin Costa —
Finally we can begin to see light at the end of the tunnel. Maria's throat still hurts but is now tolerable. On Tuesday afternoon a Doctor told her she could possibly be ready to go home Saturday.
Wednesday was a big step back in the pain, and discharge Saturday seemed highly unlikely.
Then Thursday she awoke with a positive attitude and started eating and drinking again, even through the pain.
She did not sleep well last night, but she is very committed to doing everything she needs to in order to get home on Tuesday. Today is Maria's 141st day since this process began, and she has spent 74 days in the hospital away from her kids, home, friends and community. She is so ready to get out 😉 !
