Margaret ( Marge)’s Story

Site created on February 10, 2021

This week we received the news that you never want to hear, Our Mom, Marge Norsworthy,  was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. We received the news together as a family and we will get Mom through this  journey together as a family.
The first priority is to remove the tumor and effected lymph nodes via a mastectomy as soon as possible. We are thrilled to have found a wonderful surgeon who we have complete faith in.  After surgery her care will transfer to an Oncologist who will manage the post surgery treatment. Thanks to some great referrals we feel like we have a dream team on the case and feel very optimistic .
Mom has a great attitude and  says “she is not going anywhere!”  We are confident that she will get through this with flying colors!  Your love and prayers are greatly appreciated. Please follow our Caring Bridge site where we will be keeping family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
 Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Pestana Norsworthy-Pestana

Hello family and friends! I want to give you an update on how Mom's journey is coming along.
As you know Mom sailed through her mastectomy surgery like a champ! We felt such a sense of relief and were hopeful that the surgery got all of the cancer.
Once the surgical pathology came back we learned that 7 additional lymph nodes all tested positive for cancer that did not show up on the pet scan.
This leads the Oncologist to believe that there may be more cancer that did not show up on the pet scan. Mom has started on a chemo alternative that is Hormone receptor which has shown to slow the progression of Breast Cancer in older woman.
Once her surgical site has healed she will be starting a minimum of 5 days per week for 5 weeks of Radiation therapy with a radiation Oncologist.
This was dissappointing news for Mom but her fighting spirit is strong and she is ready to take on the battle! We continue to ask for your love, prayers, and support for Mom and Dad and appreciate you all very much!
Love, Janice, Jim, and Robert
