Margaret’s Story

Site created on January 17, 2018

Hello Dear Ones... Friends and Family Alike...

We thought this Caring Bridge site would be a great  place to share what I'm experiencing and and easy way to keep everyone updated in one place.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  xo

Let’s bring everyone up to speed… Recently Margaret was diagnosed with esophageal cancer… specifically where the esophagus meets the stomach.  Initial plan was weekly chemo treatments, daily radiation and then surgery once the cancer shrinks.  She is working with a great team of doctors at Orange Regional Medical Center (where she is employed), and the surgery will eventually be done at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC.

She has had to take some time off work because these initial chemo and radiation treatments have been kicking her butt.  She is actually on a bit of a break from the treatments right now so she can restore her energy.  Treatment resumes this coming Monday, 2/26,  she is a little less then halfway through the first part of this.

Margaret’s joyful essence and all our love & prayers will get her through this challenge.  Let’s all gather together here from near and far to encourage, support and love our dear friend, daughter, sister, mother… Margaret.

Hi everyone,
I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone for all the support I have received already (I have truly amazing friends!!!!!) including my dear friend Debra who is helping me get this site going! I will do my  best  to update it or have someone do it for me. Also  don't be afraid to call or text, if I am unable to respond then I won't. I love you all!  Margaret

Sharing Margaret's every day prayer with you...

Dearest Holy Spirit,Please help me to be kind and loving throughout the day. Please help me to see the world through your loving, nonjudgmental eyes. Thank you for all to the wonderful gifts of life. Please help me deal with sadness, heartache and pain. Please walk with me and all my loved ones through whatever we need to get through and please give me strength today and everyday... Amen

Newest Update

Journal entry by Debra Brittingham

Here is Margaret's message from this afternoon!  Blessings to you all for all your love, prayers and support of our dearly loved Margaret! ~Debra

Hi everyone! Today I am three weeks post surgery. I am doing great in the recovery process! I truly believe that everyone's prayers and love have helped the make the process smoother, almost miraculous! I saw the surgeon and his team yesterday and they were very pleased with my progress. They even removed the feeding tube which made me very happy! He did say that all of the cancer was removed during the surgery however today the oncologist told me that they are recommending another course of a different kind of chemo. This was not the news I was hoping for but over all it is still good news. The only reason they recommend this is because some of what they removed was live cancer cells and this is the protocol when that is what they take out. She said the type of chemo is easier to tolerate than what I had before and often people are able to work while they are going through it (lets hope so!!!) So that's the update. Thanks so much for all the prayers and support!!!
