Margaret’s Story

Site created on October 31, 2021

On October 30th, Margaret was experiencing increased trouble breathing and pain in her throat. After connecting with her daughter, Natasha, on the phone, she was encouraged to seek emergency care. She was admitted to the University of Colorado Hospital, where she tested positive for COVID-19 that same evening. Her doctor, nurse, and nurse practitioner are taking good care of her and her son Kambi and daughter-in-law Julia have flown in from New York to be with her. We are only able to visit once a day but are keeping in close contact with her care team and will use this site to keep everyone updated.  Margaret is a faithful, loving and resilient soul. We will continue to uplift our Mother, Sister, and Friend in our words, thoughts and prayers. **Please note that donations made to Caring Bridge through this page are used to support the functioning of this website, they do not reach Margaret or the family directly**

Newest Update

Journal entry by Julia Discenza

Hi all,  unfortunately we don’t have much of an update. Mom’s care team is continuing to take good care of her. We are all keeping our hopes up as best we can and putting our trust in God.

As an aside, Kambi and Julia are doing our best to fund our own trips to and from Colorado, hotel, food and rental car. There is no hospital bill yet and we are working on getting Mom’s health care costs covered through a financial assistance program. Unfortunately some of Mom’s expense still need to be covered while she is in the hospital, such as her phone bill, and other recurring payments. You should feel no obligation at all, but if you would like to contribute to help us cover these costs Kambi would be grateful to receive your gifts through Venmo (@Kambi-Gathesha) or CashApp ($KambiGathesha). Once again your thoughts and prayers are already enough so please do not feel obligated.

With Love,
-Kambi and Julia
