Welcome! Life is often about challenges, and it's our choice with how we want to face them! I've been diagnosed with a brain tumor, which I've named Ophelia, an oligodendroglioma. This site is a launchpad for my journey through tumor removal, radiation, chemotherapy, and all of the love and life that goes along with it.
I had a seizure while playing tennis on Thursday (3.4.21) that led me to the local ER in Arkansas, then to a brain specialist in Missouri, and then to UCLA. After developing a timeline, and pulling the pieces together we’ve concluded that I have been experiencing seizures since January 2020.
We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement!
Life is precious. Find JOY in the little things. ❤️
xx Marcy
Update: After a year of surgery, radiation, chemo, meditation, endurance, prayers, ups, downs, and positive energy from this community…Marcy is CANCER FREE! We are thanking God, taking big breaths, and feeling extremely grateful for life.
Why the name Ophelia? Ophelia chose her own name. Nobody should go about this alone. Ophelia means “help.”
Type of tumor? Ophelia is a grade 3 glioma that is the size of a racketball and located in the front right portion of Marcy’s brain. This area impacts memory, judgment, personality, and possibly speech.
Ophelia Pathology Report: She is a grade 3 oligodendroglioma, which means cancerous. Marcy has already completed 7 weeks of radiation and is currently powering through 7 cycles of chemotherapy. People with a grade 3 oligodendroglioma are expected to live an average of 3.5 years as there is currently no cure. Marcy has never accepted average for her life, and we are praying for and expecting a full life ahead!
Why LA? Marcy and her family have chosen to receive her care at UCLA and St. Johns where she will be surrounded by an amazing treatment and support team.
Letters and care packages address: Thank you for your interest in snail mail! They will be loved and appreciated! If you’d like to send a card or care package, (or drop one by):
