Journal entry by Marc Beckman —
We’ve been home about 4 weeks now and besides a few family Christmas gatherings and our doctor appointments; have stayed pretty close to home during this time. Things are going well for us here.
Rae is about 4½ months as birth dates go, but about 7 weeks if counting up from her due date. She’s wearing newborn diapers and clothes yet to give you some size perspective, and still our sweet Rae - blue eyes and all.
She’s been steadily gaining weight and although she’s only in the 17th -20th percentile alongside other preemies her age, she is gaining – even if only ounces at a time. She’s almost 9 lbs. already! We saw our Doctor here in Willmar on Wednesday. She said Rae’s a healthy little girl, and things are looking very good – this momma wasn’t proud at all ;)
We’ve been given a clean bill as far as her eyes go too. The problem that raised red flags for her Dr before we left St. Cloud is resolving, and therefore she was given a cleared status for that issue.
As for her hearing, the follow up appointment with the Pediatric audiologist on Monday was inconclusive. She had not passed two previous hearing tests but we were hopeful in this most recent one on Monday for changes. Apparently it’s the testing results from her right ear that continue to be questionable. We have another return trip to St. Cloud in two weeks for an appointment with the doctor. We’re looking forward to an update with good news.
