Michelle’s Story

Site created on January 3, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

We have all hoped that the battle that was 2020 was behind us, but for the Hanson family, it appears it may have just been the warm up and we are now preparing for a tougher fight.

In the early hours of January 2nd, Michelle began experiencing debilitating,  lower left quadrant, abdominal pain. It's intensity lead to hospitalization at North Memorial in Robbinsdale where a mass was identified in the bladder. Additional testing also uncovered some problematic spotting on some bone.

This page will be the rallying spot for all updates and battle plans.

Journal entry by Michelle Hanson

This may be the hardest entry to write but it will not be my last, I promise.  I feel great and look normal, but the cancer appears to be spreading more rapidly than we'd like. This leads the care team to believe i have weeks to months to navigate the bad stuff that may be coming.  Personally, I plan to .  I am grateful for each day I hadve been given, and i try to spend as much time with family and friends experiencing adventures.  This week is Chanhassen Dinner Theater and perhaps an ice fishing trip with my cousin, Brian mixed in with two oncology appointments and an oil change, not    to mention navigating the ice storm.  Any suggestions for new adventures, are welcome.  I do have a cane, a walker and a wheelchair (just feel guilty making people push me), but if it means going places and seeing old friends, I'm certainly up for that.

I am currently busy working on my Pay It Forward Fund donations.  If you have anything to help us out with, (whether it be a nice bottle of alcohol, a basket (Margarita night, Movie night, Bloody Mary basket), artwork, tickets to a play or game (Twins, Wild, Timberwolves, Vikings, etc, please reach out to me).   We have one of the greatest silent auctions in the cities, and since this will be my last year as a go-getter and barring a miracle, my last Casino Night, I would like it to be remembered as a great one.  If you have anything at all, I will find a way to connect with you (and maybe get to see you again.)ney,
I am still very busy making blankets, while tring to sell or donate the large inventory of pillowcases, scarves and pillows I have on hand.

While I enter the next stage of my journey, I would like to get together with as many of   you as   possible.  i  am free most often three days a week and weekends.  I would love to do lunch, go find a meat raffle and  pull-tabs somewhere, make a visit to the casino, the arboretum or the zoo - all things that bring me joy.   So PLEASE reach out and let's get together.

OH, AND I PLAN TO  MAKE  AND EAT THAT CHOCOLATE FUDGE CAKE.
